BUILDING ON THE PAST
BUILDING FOR THE FUTURE

An Appeal for the Conservation and Renovation of the Church,
Parish Hall and Rectory

A National Trust Approved Project

A Community Asset
Christ Church has been a community focal point in Claremont for over 100 years, providing a whole range of activities and services. It is a treasure enjoyed by all, regardless of religious beliefs, and symbolises the strengths and traditions which bind our community together.
Today, the Church and Rectory require urgent work to their fabric. The heavily used Parish Hall is in need of a full refurbishment in order to provide adequate facilities for all users and make the whole site more accessible and welcoming. We plan to equip our church buildings to respond to the needs of today and tomorrow.

The project seeks to fulfil part of our church's mission with an ambitious plan to:

conserve and repair this historic Church

carry out a major re-design of the Church Hall [New Hall]

re-landscape the area around the buildings.

What Needs to be Done

The work planned for Christ Church is in three sections:

The Church

Work includes: repairs and re-pointing of the walls, repairs to the roof and gutters, maintenance of leadlight windows and cleaning the building fabric.
Within the building we want to create a more functional space for baptisms, provide better lighting and an improved sound system.
We also intend to carry out significant landscaping to assist in providing a pleasing and peaceful setting.

   The Church Hall
The hall has received a radical re-design and re-fit as it had become outdated and unsuitable for community needs. A new hall area more suitable for many of our functions has been created. The kitchen and toilets have been completely renewed and the area has a new colonnaded façade providing a contemporary and welcoming aspect. [New Hall]

   The Rectory
The building has reached a stage where major renovation has become necessary. Some modification is also required so that it will satisfy residential and some small meeting needs for the Parish and its Rector.

We Need Your Help
Christ Church needs funds to conserve and restore the church and its buildings, modernise the facilities, and provide a better venue for all those who use it.

In order to support this capital programme, Christ Church has established a National Trust tax-deductible appeal with a target of $1.5 million over the next three years.

Thanks to a very generous legacy and other donations we have already raised $350,000 towards our target.
We now invite you to help us raise the rest of the money and complete this important project. Doing so will give us a wonderful centre which will be of lasting benefit to the whole community - to you, your families, friends, and neighbours.

Please Support Us!
Help us to create a Parish Centre which will benefit the whole Claremont community, both now and in the future.
However large or small, your donation will help make a significant impact on the future of our Parish and the people of Claremont.

"In today's fast moving and noisy world people need places where they can be silent, pray, reflect or cry. At times we all need such places that stand rock-solid in our ever changing environment and are open to all. The historic sacred space of Christ Church is one of those places."

The Rev'd Greg Davies, Rector of Christ Church
