Christ Church National Trust Heritage Appeal
BULLETIN 1
- The Appeal
Committee's Aim. The Christ Church Appeal is a National Trust
Project set up to fund the refurbishment and conservation of our heritage
listed site comprising the church, hall and rectory. The Appeal Committee's
aim is to raise $1.5-$2m on behalf of the National Trust with the
specific aim of financing work at Christ Church.
- Committee
Membership. Members of the committee include: Sue Gillett, Tony
Monk (Coordinators), David Green, Moira Martin, Richard Offen, Callum
Crofton, Heather Whiting, Richard Hatch, Helyn Verry-Barker, Chris
Wortham.
- Amount Raised.
Up to 26 March, $33,115 has been contributed representing 34 gifts.
The total represents the amount promised over a two or three year
period and not the amount received.
- New Brochure.
The committee decided that if individuals/bodies outside the parish
are to be approached, then a new brochure and gift form is required.
To this end, third year Curtin University graphic design students
were invited to submit designs. Committee members have contributed
to a prize for the winning design.
- Fund Raising
Events. Matthew & Mozart: a Meditation for Holy Week. On Passion
Sunday, Collegium Musicum conducted by Margaret Pride contributed
selected choruses from Mozart's Requiem (K626). It was a moving event
and the retiring collection amounted to an encouraging $1400. Other
events planned include a series of Spring Dinners hosted by Heather
Whiting and Richard Hatch. The possibility of a special Parish Dinner
is also being explored.
- Grants.
Thanks to John Deykin's expertise, contacts and efforts a funding
grant of $3750 has been received from the ANZAC Day Working Group's
Working Party Small Grants Scheme to refurbish and restore the dilapidated
Honour Roll in the Church porch.
- Input Needed.
The Committee is seeking suggestions and refreshing fund-raising ideas.
